Biography

Gary has more than 19 years of work experience with a strong background in project management, business strategy development, process improvement and customer service. He has worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from engineering and construction projects for the natural gas industry to strategy development and implementation in the high tech and not-for-profit sectors.

Gary’s project management experience is extensive. He led multi-disciplined teams of up to 20 members responsible for all aspects of designing, constructing, and commissioning compressor stations, metering stations and pipelines with total expenditures over $100 milllion.

In a company-wide re-engineering initiative for a major natural gas transmission company, Gary performed extensive market analysis, designed and implemented new business processes and organizational structures, and provided business and process expertise for the implementation of a new computer system (SAP). In another business process improvement project for the accounting department of a major auto parts supplier, opportunities were identified to produce net savings of $2 million, reduce workload and streamline the business operations of the company.

As part of a new pricing and products strategy for a leading natural gas transmission company, Gary was involved in developing a suite of new services and a radically new price model to improve the company's competitive position. Implementation of this new strategy involved lengthy negotiations with industry representatives for an industry wide settlement, and subsequent regulatory approval.

Gary provided strategy and marketing advice for an Internet Application Service Provider, performing market segmentation, customer and competitor analysis and pricing design during the start-up phase of the company. He also assisted in the implementation of technology and business systems to support the future growth of the company.

Gary has assisted a number of organizations with strategic and business planning. Recent examples include a local not-for-profit organization experiencing financial difficulties and operational instability. The organization is now financially stable and in the process of rationalizing its services to align with its strategic direction. In another case, he worked with a consulting firm in the electric sector to clarify strategic focus and develop business plans for growth.
